In late March, a group of anonymous feminists known as Jewish Women Watching (JWW) caused a hubbub at the Jewish Theological Seminary of America's celebration of conservative women rabbis. JWW released a fake press release announcing the seminary's plans to achieve gender equity by 2010. When the hoax was revealed, the seminary angrily denied planning to close the pay gap between male and female rabbis, ordain gays and lesbians or acknowledge women as equal participants in the Jewish community. Said a JWW member, "We didn't feel that those values were antithetical to the conservative Jewish movement, but if they are, conservative Jews should know that."
